Stories By Joey: Which Plants Would Win At The Olympics?

Stories By Joey

I don't know if you've been enjoying the Olympics, with its variety of controversy, touching stories, and athletic competition. The girls have been super into gymnastics this year, having started the sport themselves (there is currently a gymnastics bar and a balance beam in my living room - things I never thought would happen to my house before having kids…). We always like watching the swimming, diving, and even some of the sports you don't usually get to see like water polo and beach volleyball. There are just so many talented athletes and it has been nice to see a different level of cooperation in the competitions this year.

But as I was watching the diversity of people and sporting events, I couldn't help but imagining what events each of my plants would compete in. I picture the golden pothos a superstar in track and field since it often grows like a sprinter. My Calathea are the gymnasts. Everything has to be just right for their routine to work, requiring intense training and unparalleled focus. In the pool you would find the Alocasias and Ferns, since they love plenty of water and lots of humidity. The Monstera would compete in skateboarding because they are just that cool.

Now I'm picturing all of my plants with track suits on and ear buds in trying to get psyched up for competition. I don't know who the winners will be. They are all gold medalists in my book.

I guess I have a whole olympic team because I have some of all of those. :) I love having plants sitting on my desk while I am working.
